When you are members of a congregation in WI, have family all over the Midwest, and live in MO, choosing where to have the baptism of your new baby is not easy. Whether we had the baptism at the seminary, or at our home congregation, Grace, at least one side of the family would have to travel. We decided to have the baptism at Grace, where Jamie and I were married four years ago. Pastor Granke, who did our marriage counseling and preached our wedding sermon performed Naomi’s baptism on Reformation Sunday, October 29, 2006.
We asked three special people to be Naomi’s baptismal sponsors, to help us teach her the faith which we have been blessed with. Doug, my brother-in-law, Tracey, Jamie’s sister and Julie, our dear friend from college.
Naomi’s sponsors, and many family members were present to witness her being washed clean from her sin, and given the righteousness of Jesus Christ. She wore a white baptismal gown which was made out of Jamie’s wedding dress. The white gown is a symbol of her new-found righteousness. What comfort it is to know that Naomi will live for eternity with her savior Jesus.
Please keep us in your prayers as we teach her about Jesus!
